What size diesel generator do I need?
Add the running power of all the loads, allow for the largest motor's start-up surge and add 20–30% headroom. For three-phase loads and industrial motors, have an electrician confirm the sizing. This model is rated 15kva.
How loud is it?
Silent (canopy) generators are much quieter than open frame sets and suit homes, shops and offices. Open sets are cheaper and suit sites and workshops. Distance and walls reduce noise a lot.
Does it come with an ATS?
An automatic transfer switch starts the generator when the mains fails and switches the load over. Check the product features above; if it is not included, ask us about adding one.
How much fuel does it use?
As a guide, diesel sets burn about 0.25–0.3 litres per kWh at around 75% load, so a 10kVA set typically uses roughly 1.5–2.5 litres per hour. Running below about 30% load for long periods can cause 'wet stacking'.
How often should a diesel generator be serviced?
Follow the maker's schedule for oil, oil filter, fuel filter and air filter, and test-run standby sets regularly. We provide servicing and genuine spare parts.
