What size inverter do I need?
Add up the running watts of everything you will use at the same time, then add about 30% headroom. Motors such as fridges and pumps draw two to three times their running power at start-up, so size for that surge. A typical home backup set-up is 2–5kVA. This model is rated 4.0KVA.
Does an inverter work without batteries?
Off-grid inverters need a battery bank. Some hybrid and grid-tie models can run from solar or the grid without batteries but will stop when that source is lost. Check the operating modes in the specifications above.
MPPT or PWM charge controller?
MPPT controllers extract more energy from the panels, especially with higher-voltage arrays and in heat, and are the better choice for larger systems. PWM controllers cost less and suit small 12V systems.
Can an inverter run a fridge and a water pump together?
