What size generator do I need?
Add up the running watts of everything you want to power, then add the surge of the largest motor (fridges, pumps and air conditioners surge to about 3x on start-up). For a home with a fridge, TV, lights and a pump, 3-5 kVA is typical.
Petrol, diesel or LPG?
Petrol is cheaper upfront and fine for occasional backup. Diesel gives more torque, better fuel economy for long runs, and lasts longer under continuous use. LPG is cleaner and quieter where gas is available.
Silent or open frame?
Silent (canopy) generators are much quieter, weatherproof, and preferred for residential areas and events. Open frame generators are cheaper, lighter, and better for construction sites.
Can it power my whole house?
